When the desire for a younger, fresher appearance solidifies, sooner or later one begins to inform oneself about the various possibilities. In the process, one quickly comes across two types of treatment that seem quite similar: those with botulinum toxin and those with hyaluronic acid. The question often arises as to what exactly is the difference between the two. Don't they both provide the same results? The answer is quite simple: no. Both treatments are non-surgical, but they serve different purposes. In this article, we will show you where the differences lie and in which cases each of them is used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Botulinum toxin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the tabloid press you can always see photos of celebrities who have obviously undergone Botox treatment. Everyone is familiar with these negative examples; they not only look unattractive, but also somewhat embarrass these well-known, otherwise always perfect people. What you read much less about, however, are the countless positive cases. Because younger and fresher looking faces are of course much less spectacular and do not stand out as much at first glance. The fact is: the unattractive cases are almost negligible exceptions, where the doctor performed the treatment carelessly and\/or with too high a dose. With a qualified doctor and the right dose, on the other hand, you achieve a new, fresh radiance - and not a rigid, strained face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Botulinum toxin is mainly used in the case of mimic wrinkles<\/a> used. For example Frown lines<\/a> and Crow's feet<\/a> are treated. The drug takes a relaxing effect: The excessively active muscles are calmed and the face is practically \"softened\". The effect is usually visible after a few days and lasts for several months afterwards. To achieve a long-term effect, follow-up injections are recommended approximately every four months. As with any treatment, side effects cannot be ruled out with Botox treatments. Of course, we address these together with our patients before each treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n

Hyaluronic acid<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hyaluronic acid is a substance produced naturally in the body that binds water and gives the face its beautiful fullness in younger years. However, as we age, our hyaluronic acid reserves shrink. This causes our lips, for example, to lose volume and look a little droopy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a Treatment with hyaluronic acid<\/a> is used to replenish the body's own reserves and compensate for or fill volume losses. While botulinum toxin is used for \"dynamic\" wrinkles, hyaluronic acid is used for \"static\" lines on the face caused by increasing age. Typical areas here include wrinkles at the corners of the mouth and Nasolabial folds<\/a>. The improved volume is visible immediately after treatment and lasts for three to twelve months, depending on the area treated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
